Overview

Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School (CCPS) is seeking a reliable and adaptable substitute teacher to support our staff and students.  As a substitute teacher, you will provide temporary instruction and maintain an engaging learning environment when the regular classroom teacher is unavailable. Your ability to quickly establish rapport with students, effectively communicate subject matter, and manage classroom dynamics is crucial for ensuring a smooth educational experience in the teacher's absence.  Prospective substitute teaching candidates can learn more about our curriculum on our website.

Responsibilities

  • Substituting in the absence of regular teacher:
    • Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
    • Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    • Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
    • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
    • Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
    • Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
    • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
    • Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
    • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current New Mexico substitute license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technology skills including familiarity with Google applications for email, document creation, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with myriad stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Albuquerque's local community and education landscape is a plus.

Compensation

$72 for half a day (4hrs)

$135 for a full day (8hrs)
