SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of an administrator, a classroom teacher will implement school board policy regarding the educational curriculum of a particular instructional division and/or instructional unit. The teacher may teach one or more subjects.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience in teaching would provide the required knowledge and skills are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with student teaching experience
and/or
Experience: Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience with a Bachelor's Degree and the ability to obtain a valid teaching license in Nevada
Knowledge of: Child development; behavior and characteristics of students; subject area and/or credential area of teaching. (e.g. special education, math, science, etc.); effective teaching skills; planning and organizing; supervision and control; assessment and diagnosis; interpersonal relations.
Skill at: Creating an effective environment for learning, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other staff members. The ability to establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Effective utilization of technology in instruction, planning, data-based decision making and monitoring of student achievement.
License/Certificates: Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid Nevada teaching license in the relevant subject area/and or grade level.
Special Considerations: When selected for Department chair of a high school, additional pay will be provided based on number of teachers supervised.

Additional Job Information
RISE Academy for Adult Achievement is a WCSD school where adult students come to finish their high school diploma (we offer Adult High School Diplomas), earn an HSE (High School Equivalency) or improve their English through one of our 5 levels of ELL (English Language Learner) classes. We are hiring teachers on a part time or hourly basis to teach one of our many classes that we offer each quarter. We will need teachers who are highly qualified (or who can demonstrate equivalent mastery) in four core subject areas: English/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Additionally, we will offer support classes for ELA and Math, adult ESL, and HSE/HSPE Prep. Prospective Teachers must have a valid Nevada State Teaching License or a sub license.
Secondary Certification OR ELL ELAD Endorsement OR Alt Ed Secondary Education preferred.
Classes will be offered in the mornings and evenings. Applicant must be able to work an evening or morning flexible schedule. For current WCSD employees, these hourly assignments may work in combination with your current work schedule.

Once hired, selected applicants should understand and abide by the following:
1. Mandatory attendance at a yearly and quarterly "Professional Learning Community Sessions".
2. Communicate regularly via e-mail with one of the RISE Administrators, which includes identifying any issues that may impact the program or the class the employee teaches.
3. Maintain accurate attendance records through Infinite Campus, as well as have students sign a paper roster, in order to ensure that services are being provided in an effective and efficient manner.
4. Be available for "walk-throughs" by the RISE Administrative Team, which will measure the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that determine if the Adult Education Program is meeting the goals outlined in the performance framework. These "walk-throughs" will also be utilized to determine if instructors are making progress in the classroom.
5. That the employee will be informally evaluated every year by a member of the RISE Academy for Adult Achievement Administrative Team. These informal evaluations will not become part of the employee's WCSD personnel file, but may be used to craft the annual formal evaluation as well as factor into any decision regarding the employee's continued employment within the Adult Education program.
Students will have an opportunity to earn half a credit toward graduation every term/quarter. Courses will be mastery-based. Teachers hired to teach these classes will sign up to teach 1,2,3, or 4 terms during the school year. We also offer a full-slate of classes during summer school (4 weeks from Mid-June to Mid-July).

Certified hourly employees, who are not current WCSD employees, will be fingerprinted upon hire and every year thereafter. Certified hourly employees will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting and will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every year thereafter. Fingerprint fees are subject to change. Your job offer is conditional until a report is returned from the FBI and Nevada Department of Public Safety that meets the standards of WCSD for employment purposes.
