Job description

Compensation: $27.40 to $34.25 per hour (based on years of experience)
Summary:
TheRegistered Dietitian (RD) provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) toindividuals (pediatrics and adults) and groups in an outpatient setting to helpmanage chronic conditions and triage acute nutrition-related health concerns.While this position is primarily patient-facing, the RD may be asked to assistwith Diabetes Education programming.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culture withinThe Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in theService and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will beexpected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles containedwithin.
2. Performs Nutrition Care Process/Medical Nutrition therapy to patients with a wide range of conditions by completing nutritional assessments, diagnosing nutritional problems, and providing tailored interventions and counseling.
3. Collaborates with the Corvallis Clinic DiabetesEducation team to coordinate and teach Diabetes Education group class.
4. Collaborates with Corvallis Clinic primary careand specialties to manage treatment plans.
5. Develops, implements, and revisesnutrition-related educational programs and resources for both patients andstaff. Includes serving as a dietetic intern preceptor.
Education, Licensure, and Experience:
1. Bachelor'sDegree in nutrition from an accredited program and completion of an approveddietetic internship required.
2. Registered Dietitianby the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required .
3. LicensedDietitian by the State of Oregon's Health Licensing Office required.
4. One (1) yearof experience as a clinical dietitian, with preference to outpatient counselingpreferred.
5. Experience delivering health education and support to patients with chronicdisease preferred.
6. Experience teaching health education classes preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. InterdisciplinaryCare - Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships withmulti-disciplinary teams.
2. Communication- Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues,exchange information between team members, patients, and community members, andtactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen toand understand complex information and ideas. Knowledgeable in clinical disease processes and medicalmanagement
3. MedicalNutrition Therapy - Possess the skills and knowledge needed to assess patientsfor nutritional diagnoses and provide appropriate nutritional interventions.Ability to provide evidence- based nutritional counseling and guidance.Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology and research basednutritional guidelines and recommendations.
4. Experienceand expertise in the use of computer systems including electronic medicalrecords. Knowledge ofmedical records, procedures, and terminology. Thorough understanding of andability to complete all required documentation of clinical interactions withpatients, including compliance with third-party payer's policies andregulations.
5. ProblemSolving: Ability to identify complex problems, review related information,employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options andimplement solutions.
6. SocialPerceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics togeriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for andcommunicating with patients and caregivers.
7. TimeManagement: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to completion withinrequired time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to performmultiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments andunder pressure.
8. Adaptability/Flexibility:Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to urgent medical situations thatmay arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjustactions in relation to others and adapt treatment to offer best possible careto patients.
