Job Description

The Opportunity

KIPP Tulsa is seeking a dedicated and versatile Day-To-Day Substitute Teacher to provide instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to positively impact students’ learning experiences by maintaining an engaging and productive classroom environment. This position offers flexibility and the chance to work in various KIPP Tulsa campuses within the Tulsa region.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms to which you are assigned
  • Executing daily academic facilitation of classroom lesson plans in alignment with the school curriculum during the duration of the assignment.
  • Assuming responsibility for overseeing student safety and behavior in class and at other times during the school day, as requested
  • Maintaining appropriate student behavior at all times throughout the school day for assigned students
  • Attendance is essential for compliance purposes; day-to-day subs are required to record student attendance daily.
  • Willing to offer support to and receive constructive feedback from teachers and administrators in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvement
  • Treating information about students and staff with the utmost confidence and confidentiality
  • Ability to commute to schools within a 15-mile radius of your assigned base location for critical sub needs and a willingness to commute beyond in extreme circumstances
  • Exhibits flexibility regarding any changes to daily assignments in order to support the immediate needs of the school (Example: Hall Monitoring, clerical, lunch room duty, after-school duty, etc.)
  • Utilizing the practices and procedures in the Team & Family Handbook distributed annually by KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools
  • Reports to assigned base locations daily on time (no later than 15 min. late will be allowed)
Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 48 college credit hours OR 2+ years working with children in an educational setting.
  • Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is an asset.
  • Available to work a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to varying classroom environments and instructional materials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and KIPP Tulsa’s mission.

Work Conditions:

  • Availability to work on short notice as a substitute teacher within the KIPP Tulsa region
  • Ability to travel between KIPP Tulsa campuses as needed
  • Flexibility in accepting assignments across various grade levels and subjects
  • Adhere to school policies and guidelines regarding professional conduct and dress code

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a Part-Time, 10-month position. The daily rate is commensurate with experience and is based on the KIPP Tulsa daily substitute scale.
