BROOKE COUNTY SCHOOLS
POSITION VACANCY POSTING #P-1835
POSITION TITLE:              
MENTOR TEACHER -  ART (SHANNON BALDAUF) - HOOVERSON HEIGHTS PRIMARY SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:           1.  Certification or license as required by the West Virginia Department of Education and currently employed as a full time teacher by Brooke County Schools.





  1. Minimum five years teaching experience.
  2. Masters degree preferred
  3. Excellent performance evaluations and attendance
  4. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  5. Demonstrates ability to motivate people
  6. Interest in assisting teachers new to the profession
  7. Ability to assist new teachers through a supervisory rather than an evaluative approach
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality standards
  9. Interest in learning and teaching new instructional strategies
  10. Willing to attend staff development sessions for mentors
  11. Willing to arrange mentor/new teacher conferences (new teacher may be located in another building)
  12. Demonstrates ability to work in a collegial manner with administrators/administrative staff

 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Pre-conference, observe, and post-conference with assigned new teacher once each week during the first semester and biweekly during the second semester; adjustments may be made to accommodate mentor/new teacher working in separate buildings
  2. Assist new teachers in a supervisory rather than evaluative role
  3. Attend all staff development sessions and complete necessary assignments for mentor teachers; mentorship requirements may extend beyond instructional day.
  4. Inform Principal/Assistant Principal/Designee of interventions with the assigned new teacher; complete duties as assigned by above supervisor
  5. Maintain professional level of confidentiality
  6. Learn, practice, and teach instructional strategies to assigned new teacher
  7. Provide monthly written documentation of interventions to Assistant Superintendent with assigned new teacher
  8. Maintain pertinent records as they relate to Mentor Teacher Program

 
Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits 
package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
