Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a full-time, on-site role as a Special Education Teacher: Instructional Strategist II Endorsement serving a school located in Marshalltown, IA. 

The Special Education Teacher: Instructional Strategist II Endorsement will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours/week
  • 2026-2027 School year, August - May/June.

Requirements

  • Valid Iowa teaching license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
  • Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
  • Current Iowa Instructional Strategist II (IS II) endorsement, including one of the following:
    • K-12 Instructional Strategist II: Behavior Disorders/Learning Disabilities (BD/LD) - Endorsement #263
    • K-12 Instructional Strategist II: Intellectual Disabilities (ID) - Endorsement #264
  • 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with children
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
