AllSubstitute Teachers wishing to substitute in grades K-12 in Jennings County Schools:
  • Must attend a training session at Central office which includes
    • watching bloodbourne pathogens video
    • reviewing the substitute teacher handbook
    • completing an expanded background check (starts at $32.65 *cost to the applicant)
    • complete drug screen (cost covered by Jennings County Schools)
    • two letters of recommendation (preferred from history of working with kids) (can be attached to your application or turned in later)
    • once background check and drug screen are completed you are required to complete two hours of classroom observation
    • Transcripts or copy of diploma or degree (you can attach to your application)
    • Must supply a passport- or two forms of ID- Drivers license and social security card or birth certificate
    • If you wish to complete a portion of the substitute teaching packet prior to attending a substitute training session please print off the substitute teaching application pages listed with the assigned application pages.
  • Rates:
    • Tier I $70 daily- High school diploma
    • Tier II $75 daily- Paraprofessional test completed/passed, Associates or Bachelors Degree
    • Tier III $90 daily- Bacholers Degree with Teaching license
    • Tier IV $110 daily- Retired JCSC teacher in good standing
  • Please review Substitute Handbook for additional information prior to attending training session (see attached)
  • Training sessions scheduled (1st Wednesday of every month at Central Office 34 West Main Street North Vernon, IN. 47265)
