Job description

POSITION TITLE: ย  ย  ย  ย  Substitute Teacher and Teacher Assistant

REPORTS TO: ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย School Administrator and Director of HR

BEGINNING DATE: ย  ย  ย Open Until Filled

ย KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Demonstrate superior judgment when making decisions
  • Ability to establish effective and positive rapport with staff and students
  • Knowledge of instructional technology
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student population including students with special and personal care needs including toileting and feeding
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites with minimal notice

ย EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Educator's License preferred
  • High School diploma required

ย TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:ย  10 months

ย SALARY:ย  $113 per day for non-licensed personnel; $130 per day for individuals with an educator's license

ย FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

ย PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reports to main office upon arrival at the school.
  2. Implements prepared lesson plans.
  3. Maintains good order and discipline in classroom that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
  4. Completes all necessary records accurately such as attendance, grades, inventories, etc.
  5. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher.
  6. Models and promotes high level of ethical and appropriate behavior.
  7. Monitors student interaction while keeping students on task.
  8. Assists with the needs of all students to include exceptional students.
  9. Ensures the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
  10. Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  11. Maintains classroom arrangement and ensures that all materials and equipment in classroom are used appropriately.
  12. Promotes proper use and care of school property.
  13. Addresses and reconciles minor student conflicts and requests assistance from administration when support is needed in this area.
  14. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illness, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonable possible.
  15. Reports any unusual occurrence or event to the principal or designee immediately.
  16. Maintains confidentiality of student information.
  17. Follows all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the school, Board of Education and Superintendent.
  18. Remains at the school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or designee.
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned by school administrator(s).
  20. Additional expectations will be communicated at each school location based on grade levels, curriculum offerings, etc.

ย PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking, including repetitive motions.
  • Ability to stand in excess of 6 hours.
  • Ability to lift 15-30 pounds routinely and 30-100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills.
  • Must be able to visually, auditorily, and physically monitor student performance and conduct.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
