We are seeking dynamic, engaging individuals that will be responsible for assisting teachers with our Lower School students in face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting the Lead Teacher(s) with instructing and supervising students in classroom activities, including the preparation of activities to support lesson plans.
  • Working with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce new skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assisting the Lead Teacher in devising and implementing special strategies for reinforcing skills based on the needs and abilities of each student.
  • Assisting with critical daily activities such as classroom transition times, playground, mealtimes, and halls.
  • Utilizing appropriate language, interactions, and positive discipline; model positive, nurturing Christian behavior.
  • Continuously monitoring students to ensure a safe environment at all times; maintain a clean, organized learning environment.
  • Assisting with parental communications about daily classroom routine, expectations, policies, field trips, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate student folders and records.
  • Preparing bulletin boards, graphs, and charts.
  • Encouraging the development of student self-control by utilizing classroom management and modeling techniques.
  • Maintaining quality results by following and enforcing standards.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE

  • A minimum of a bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience;
  • Relevant experience, with teaching assistance experience in early childhood through fifth-grade school environment preferred.

ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to convey a dynamic, energetic, patient, and nurturing spirit;
  • Ability to apply professional, Christian, ethical and legal standards of conduct in relationships with students, parents, school personnel, and co-workers, particularly as it relates to confidentiality;
  • Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment;
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently;
  • Ability to embrace innovation as a tool to teach, engage, and motivate students;
  • Ability to lift and carry children (up to 50 lbs.), including kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, or squatting to interact with children; use fingers and hands to manipulate small objects; run short distances
