Job description

The SELA Summer Program will run the last 3 weeks in July, Tuesday-Friday from 8:00-11:00 AM. ย All applicants are expected to be in attendance for each of the 12 days of the program.

Summer teaching positions are prioritized for current Decatur and MPSED employees.ย  Pay is summer school rate of $33/hour.ย ย 

Staff must be trained in:

  • Ukeru
  • CPI Advanced Skills

Decatur summer positions are part of a collective bargaining unit.ย  Contract information can be found here:
Applicants that, in the judgment of the Director of Human Resources or designee, are considered as being the best qualified to meet the needs of the summer school program, will be selected for summer school teaching positions. The criteria (in order of importance) utilized in evaluating all applicants will include the following:ย 

1. Certificationย 
2. District employeeย 
3. Prior years' experience in the content area at the middle school and high school level for the applied position (N/A for Apex)
4. Current grade level band experience for the applied position
5. Most recent school term evaluations (Hire Distinguished over Proficient Summative evaluation rating)ย 
6. Summer school informal evaluationsย  ย 
7. Education levelย ย
