Childcare Teacher's Aid
Purpose Statement:
The role of the Childhood Teachers Aid is to support and assist the Early Childhood Education Teacher in the overall needs of the children in the center through direct teaching as well as leadership of staff and volunteers that are directly reporting to him/her.
Hours: Part-time
Pay: $16.00/hour
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Instruct toddler, preschool-aged or school-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
  • Support and assist the Early Childhood Education Teacher to:
    • Create a fun and safe learning environment
    • Develop developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities
    • Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
    • Communicate with parents on student's growth and progress
    • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Meet the needs of the children

Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities):
  • Must pass the Applicant Background Study required by the Department of Human Services
  • Passionate about working with children
  • Ability to build rapport with children
  • Positive and patient demeanor

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields is not required but is desired
