JOB TITLE: Proctor - Adult Education
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, part-time, hourly employee
WORK DAYS: Tuesday-Thursday
STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: 4 hours; 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
WORK YEAR: Scheduled to work 120 total work days within the 2026 2027 school calendar.
SALARY SCHEDULE & BENEFITS: Paid $40/hour; not eligible for benefits.
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Education.
SUPERVISES: N/A
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Proctor is responsible for administering official High School Equivalency (HSE), NHA CCMA and CPT, paraprofessional, and other approved assessments while following all testing procedures, maintaining test security, and providing a professional and supportive testing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Verifies examinee identification, completes required check-in procedures, and ensures that only authorized examinees and approved testing personnel enter the testing room.
  2. Maintains test security by ensuring that cell phones, electronic devices, unauthorized materials, food, drinks, and other prohibited items are not permitted in the testing room.
  3. Provides clear testing instructions and ensures examinees do not talk, communicate, receive assistance, or engage in distracting behavior during testing.
  4. Continuously monitors the testing room and examinees to maintain a quiet, orderly, secure, and distraction-free testing environment.
  5. Demonstrates patience, professionalism, and respect to help examinees feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable while maintaining all required testing boundaries.
  6. Prepares the testing room, computers, materials, and equipment before each testing session and secures all materials upon completion.
  7. Documents and immediately reports testing irregularities, security concerns, technology problems, and policy violations according to established procedures.
  8. Retrieves testing results and reports and distributes them securely to appropriate teachers and designated staff to support their understanding of examinee performance.
  9. Maintains accurate testing records and protects the confidentiality of examinee information, scores, and other testing data.
  10. Participates in staff meetings, required program professional development trainings, certification activities, and other professional growth opportunities.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education.

ENTRY-LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  2. EXPERIENCE: Prior proctoring or experience working within a school setting is preferred.
  3. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform essential job functions, meet performance aptitudes, and fulfill physical/sensory/environmental demands (with or without reasonable accommodation) is required.

  1. Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific situations.
  2. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of standard office equipment (including a computer).
  3. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information.
  4. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment.
  5. Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands:Tasks involve exerting light-to-moderate physical effort, typically involving standing, walking, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing 10 20 pounds.
Sensory Demands: Most tasks require visual perception/discrimination, oral communication, and auditory perception.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed in a standard office/classroom environment without adverse environmental conditions.
