Help Students Reach Their Potential

TX-STAR Speech Language Services collaborates with school districts across Texas to provide specialized support for students with a variety of learning needs. We are currently seeking Dyslexia Therapists/Teachers for school-based assignments in the Houston area.

This opportunity is ideal for educators who are dedicated to literacy development and want to help students with dyslexia gain confidence through systematic, research-supported reading instruction.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Dyslexia Therapist/Teacher, you will deliver focused intervention services that help students strengthen foundational reading, spelling, and language abilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide dyslexia intervention using the Read by Design instructional program

  • Lead individual and small-group sessions focused on decoding, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and overall reading development

  • Track student performance and use progress data to guide instructional decisions

  • Prepare complete and accurate records of services, attendance, and student growth

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, families, and other support professionals

  • Participate in ARD, IEP, and Section 504 meetings and offer relevant updates and recommendations

  • Deliver instruction and required accommodations in accordance with student plans and district procedures

Qualifications for This Position

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related discipline

  • Dyslexia Therapist/Teacher credential or current teaching certification

  • Hands-on experience implementing the Read by Design program

  • Understanding of dyslexia identification, structured literacy, and evidence-based reading intervention practices

  • Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills

  • Ability to work independently while managing assigned students, schedules, and documentation
