Job description

Small Engine Mechanic
Location: Fairbanks, AK
Pay: Starting at $25/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

TDL Staffing is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Small Engine Mechanic to join a fast-paced retail sales and service shop specializing in outdoor power equipment and heating systems. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on diagnostic and repair work, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently while managing multiple repair tasks.

In this role, you’ll perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of commercial and residential small engine equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and two- and four-stroke gasoline engines. The position also includes oil heater repair and installation work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engine equipment and related systems
  • Perform troubleshooting and determine necessary replacement parts
  • Repair and service commercial and residential outdoor power equipment
  • Assist with oil heater repair and installation projects
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Maintain organized and accurate repair documentation as needed
  • Provide professional customer service in a retail service environment

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience working with two- and four-stroke gasoline engines
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs independently
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to company insurance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with dependable work habits
  • Ability to provide personal basic mechanic tools (specialty tools provided)
  • Shop attire must include long pants and closed-toe shoes
  • Ability to maintain a clean, professional appearance
