Job description

Description & Requirements Maximus is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) program in Rosslyn, VA. The AWS Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing secure cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical Department of Defense operations. This role will focus on cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, automation, DevSecOps integration, and system reliability across classified and unclassified environments. The ideal candidate possesses strong AWS engineering expertise, hands-on experience with cloud automation tools, and a proven ability to support highly available, scalable, and secure enterprise cloud solutions. This role is on-site, five days a week and requires an active TS/SCI security clearance. Maximus TCS (Technology and Consulting Services) Internal Job Profile Code: TCS022, T4, Band 7 Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud environments utilizing AWS-native services and infrastructure-as-code methodologies. - Build and manage cloud infrastructure using technologies such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, EC2, ELB, RDS, Lambda, and S3. - Configure and administer AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, KMS, and AWS Config. - Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines through automation, orchestration, release management, and deployment activities. - Develop automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and related scripting technologies to streamline operational processes. - Monitor system performance, reliability, availability, and security through proactive alerting, incident response, and service improvement initiatives. - Support integration, testing, validation, and deployment of new cloud capabilities across development, testing, and production environments. - Implement and maintain security configuration management, patching, vulnerability remediation, logging, and compliance controls. - Develop and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, build guides, runbooks, operational procedures, and support documentation. - Collaborate with developers, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure cloud solutions. - Participate in Agile ceremonies and support Jira-based project tracking and sprint execution activities. Job-Specific Minimum Requirements: - Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, CND, or equivalent).
- Strong experience engineering and administering AWS cloud environments and cloud-native technologies.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience with AWS cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
- Experience implementing and supporting AWS architectures utilizing services such as EC2, ELB, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Experience with deployment automation, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management tools including GitLab and Bitbucket.
- Experience developing cloud solutions using object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, Ruby, or PHP.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, monitoring, vulnerability management, and operational support practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline; additional relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting enterprise information technology environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure in enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or federal government programs is preferred.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent AWS certification.
- Experience supporting Amazon C2S, GovCloud, or other secure government cloud environments.
