Job description

Position Description: Provides transportation planning and execution support to ARCENT G4 theater logistics and sustainment operations throughout the CENTCOM AOR. Plans, coordinates, and analyzes strategic deployment, distribution, redeployment, and mobility operations in support of ARCENT mission requirements. Assists with movement planning, transportation asset utilization, route and distribution network analysis, reception, staging, onward movement, and integration (RSOI), and sustainment synchronization activities. Utilizes the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES), Transportation Coordinators' Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMS II), Global Transportation Network (GTN), and other deployment and distribution management systems to support force projection, theater distribution, and sustainment operations. Analyzes transportation performance, identifies movement constraints, distribution bottlenecks, and logistics risks, and develops recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and transportation readiness. Coordinates with military transportation organizations, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Theater Sustainment Commands, subordinate units, and coalition partners to ensure the efficient movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies across the theater.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The Transportation Specialist shall:

  • Plan, coordinate, and synchronize strategic deployment, redeployment, distribution, and mobility operations supporting ARCENT theater missions throughout the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Utilize the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES), Transportation Coordinators' Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMS II), Global Transportation Network (GTN), and other transportation systems to support deployment planning and execution.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain Time-Phased Force and Deployment Data (TPFDD) supporting operational plans, contingency plans, and force projection requirements.
  • Coordinate movement planning for personnel, equipment, and sustainment resources in support of operational, contingency, and theater security cooperation activities.
  • Analyze transportation asset utilization, distribution networks, throughput capacity, and movement requirements to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Theater Sustainment Commands (TSC), and supported organizations to synchronize transportation operations.
  • Monitor deployment, distribution, and redeployment operations and identify transportation constraints, bottlenecks, and risks impacting mission execution.
  • Support Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration (RSOI) planning and execution activities.
  • Develop transportation plans, movement schedules, sustainment estimates, and logistics synchronization products supporting operational requirements.
  • Analyze transportation performance metrics and provide recommendations to improve distribution efficiency, readiness, and operational responsiveness.
  • Support deliberate planning, crisis action planning, contingency operations, exercises, and force projection activities.
  • Prepare executive briefings, readiness reports, movement analyses, and decision-support products for senior leaders.
  • Coordinate transportation requirements with Joint, Army, coalition, and host-nation organizations to support theater operations.
  • Participate in logistics synchronization meetings, deployment working groups, operational planning teams, and readiness reviews.
  • Maintain transportation databases, movement tracking systems, and deployment records supporting theater visibility and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with Army, DoD, ARCENT, USTRANSCOM, and transportation management policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Maintain an active Secret security clearance and comply with all security requirements associated with the position.
  • Perform additional transportation planning and mobility operations duties as directed by ARCENT leadership.
