Job description

The Basic School (TBS): Training & Education Analyst
Quantico, VA
Support staff and student learning and exam requirements by planning, preparing, executing, and instructing computer-aided combat simulations, assisting in Defense classification exam proctoring, and operating/maintaining simulation and Defense classification exam computer systems in support of TBS personnel, TBS courses of instruction (including programed formal and emergent informal lesson support), and validated computer lab support requirements to distinguished visitors and visiting external units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Update Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) and Defense classification exam software images for simulation or exam computers in multiple TBS computer labs for each new version of DVTE or classification exams respectively.
  • Perform equipment issue, set up, teardown, recovery, property accountability inventories, and recordkeeping for TBS Academics Group accountable property to include coordinating computers warranty issues and repairs for issued hardware.
  • Serve as an assistant instructor for call for fire simulation practical application in the Basic Officer Course, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Enlisted Warfighting Instructor Course, and Instructor Education Program 100 Series Course as well as National Capital Region external units during formal lessons. Provide open computer lab simulation support time to TBS instructors and students.
  • Act as fire support agency and simulation controller during instructional demonstrations and practical applications.
  • Instruct Infantry Officer Course students on advanced fire support missions using DVTE.
  • Serve as an assistant instructor and simulation controller for close air support and SEAD fires, firing agency for coordinated illumination fires, and firing agency for smoke, and special engagement missions for Infantry Officer Course students.
  • Provide recommendations to TBS in the design of future exercises to train newly commissioned officers more effectively.
  • Assist TBS Learning Support Manager in simulation related studies/trials, proctoring computer-based Defense classification exams, documenting requirements for instructional capabilities, and in operating computer labs.
  • Assess and identify computer lab and instructional technology shortfalls, as they apply to the academic programs of instruction at TBS, documenting recommendations on how to reduce or eliminate the shortfalls across computer labs, lesson materials, mobile learning, and learning management system capabilities.
  • Coordinate and execute TBS's participation in user testing and acceptance testing for new versions of DVTE and Defense classification exams (including Aviation Standards Testing Battery, Defense Language Aptitude Battery, and Defense Language Proficiency Tests).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Understanding of Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) computers and related simulation systems.
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience.
  • Former Marine SNCO or Officer with an operations or fires background preferred.

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and/or SharePoint.
  • Continuous proficiency installing, configuring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining computers for simulations using the Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) including current version of Virtual Battle Space (VBS), Combined Arms Network/GENSIM.
  • Experience performing tasks on a local area network or production network.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
