Job description

SR. TAX TECHNOLOGY ANALYST

SpaceX is looking for an experienced Tax Technology Sr. Analyst to join our growing tax team. This role will be a key contributor to the entire tax department, supporting the technology and systems used in the tax function to comply with tax rules around the world. You will be responsible for maintaining various global tax systems, technology and automation tools used for global indirect tax determination, compliance and reporting, as well as finding systems and process improvement for income tax and tax provision reporting. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and maintain global tax technology systems by ensuring data integrity, performing system testing, and troubleshooting issues with other departments as required
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand current processes and identify systematic gaps, then drive system enhancements to optimize productivity or process improvements
  • Identify and drive projects to automate non-value essential processes within the tax department to remove the need for human intervention in remedial tasks
  • Liaise between tax department, internal software engineers and 3rd party software providers
  • Design and implement tax solutions and related processes for tax data management/analytics, including writing SQL queries to obtain complete and accurate data needed for tax filings
  • Find opportunities for tax automation and process efficiencies
  • Train users and leaders on system developments or enhancements, and assist in troubleshooting

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of work experience in tax systems/technology/financial systems
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL, Python, and/or Alteryx
  • Experience with data visualization with Power BI, Tableau, or other business analytics platform

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with various tax technology ecosystems, and a willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new ones
  • Strong data management and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience defining data and reporting requirements for the multinational tax department
  • Project management experience, including the creation of project plans, milestones, and due dates
  • Broad understanding of sales & use tax/value-added tax
  • Exposure to businesses operating in multiple foreign countries
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time - hybrid and remote work will not be considered
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:    

Pay range:    

Sr. Tax Technology Analyst: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
