Job description

Job Summary:
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. The Senior Tax Systems Engineer (Vertex) role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise tax solutions using Vertex, while owning the technical integration of tax systems across Finance, ERP, Billing, and Revenue platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Lead end-to-end implementation and enhancement of Vertex tax solutions across Finance and Revenue systems
• Configure and optimize Vertex (O Series / tax engines), including tax rules, jurisdictions, exemptions, and reporting
• Design and build integrations between Vertex and ERP, Billing, Revenue Recognition, and Order Management systems
• Define tax data flows, transaction mappings, and reconciliation controls across systems
• Partner with Finance, Tax, Revenue Operations, and Engineering to translate regulatory and business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Troubleshoot tax calculation issues, integration failures, and reconciliation discrepancies
• Establish integration standards (API contracts, payload structures, error handling, monitoring)
• Drive performance, scalability, and compliance in high-volume transaction environments
• Contribute to architecture reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Ensure audit readiness, strong documentation, and SOX compliance where applicable
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of experience implementing and supporting Vertex tax solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong expertise in indirect tax domains (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST, cross-border taxation, exemptions, compliance)
• Deep knowledge of Vertex configuration (rules, jurisdictions, rates, exemptions, certificates, reporting)
• Experience integrating Vertex with ERP, billing, and revenue systems via REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, or custom frameworks
• Solid understanding of Quote-to-Cash and Record-to-Report processes
• Strong engineering foundation in API design, data mapping, JSON/XML transformations, and secure integrations
• Experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across tax, integration, and financial data flows
• Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD and version control (Git)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance Systems, or a related field
Preferred:
• Experience implementing Vertex in SaaS or subscription-based business models
• Familiarity with revenue systems (e.g., RevPro) and billing platforms
• Experience designing scalable tax architectures for global operations
• Knowledge of compliance controls, audit processes, and financial system governance
• Exposure to enterprise data platforms and reporting tools
