To thrive as a Tax Preparer, you need a strong understanding of tax regulations, attention to detail, and typically a background in accounting or finance, often supported by certifications such as the IRS Annual Filing Season Program. Familiarity with tax preparation software like TurboTax, Drake, or ProSeries and experience with electronic filing systems are essential. Strong communication, client service, and organizational skills help you stand out in this client-facing role. Responsibilities
·         Prepare individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 1041.

·         Answer client tax questions by phone, email, and in person.
·         Assist with tax planning, estimates, extensions, and tax notices.
·         Research federal and state tax issues.
·         Coach and train preparers.
·         Help manage workflow, deadlines, missing information, and status updates.
·         Assist with financial statement preparation and small business accounting matters.
·         Work closely with the firm’s owner.
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting required.
·         3 plus years of tax preparation experience.
·         CPA or EA preferred.
·         Candidates working toward CPA licensure will be considered.
·         Experience preparing 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 1041 returns.
·         UltraTax experience preferred.
·         QuickBooks experience preferred.
·         Strong Excel and general computer skills.
·         Ability to research tax issues.
·         Strong client communication skills.
·         Ability to explain tax concepts in plain English.
·         Ability to work independently in a small-firm environment.
·         Willingness to be hands-on with tax preparation and review.
Schedule
This is a full-time, year-round salaried position. During tax season, the expected workload is approximately 60 to 65 hours per week, and Saturday work is expected. From May through November, the firm generally operates on a four-day workweek.
This is an in-office position. After one completed tax season, there may be an opportunity for 1 to 2 hybrid workdays per week.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be competitive and based on experience, credentials, technical ability, client-facing skills, and long-term fit with the firm. Bonus potential is available for the right candidate.
·         HRA benefit
·         208 hours of PTO
·         4% 401K match
·         Paid CPE
·         Paid CPA licensing costs
