Position Summary
SUNY Geneseo, New York State's Public Honors College, seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Accounting for its highly regarded accounting programs. As a nationally recognized public liberal arts college, Geneseo provides a warm and dynamic learning environment for more than four thousand students. The AACSB-accredited School of Business offers six undergraduate majors, including a BS in Accounting, and two master's degrees in accounting - one traditional and one online.
The School of Business at SUNY Geneseo is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Accounting to begin August 2027. Duties of the position include:
  • Teaching three accounting courses related to Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Corporate Tax each semester at undergraduate and graduate levels in both classroom and online modalities.
  • Contributing to the field through published scholarship consistent with the AACSB qualification of Scholarly Academics.
  • Provide academic and career advising and mentoring to accounting students and perform other services at the School of Business and the College.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • A PhD in accounting or a highly related field with extensive coursework in accounting from an accredited institution by August 2027.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching accounting courses in face-to-face and/or virtual modes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using online learning platforms and other educational technologies for online teaching.
  • Scholarly potential demonstrated by peer-reviewed journal article publications or high-quality conference papers on accounting-related topics.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a diverse student-centered learning environment with a strong emphasis on the growth and development of the next generation of accounting leadership.
  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to work in the United States. VISA sponsorship is not offered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A CPA license.
  • Additional professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CMA, CFE).
  • Effective teaching experience in an online format.
  • Substantive professional experience in the accounting field.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed accounting journals.
  • Experience in providing academic and career advice to students.
  • Active involvement in professional accounting societies.
