Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Loan Assistant role supports the entire loan origination process by working directly with applicants, from initial application to final closing. This position is responsible for managing administrative tasks, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate, and coordinating with loan officers and other departments to deliver an exceptional customer experience. In addition, this position is expected to contribute to the bank's growth by proactively identifying opportunities to refer and cross-sell products and services.Frontline employees with considerable customer contact. Loan Assistants work closely with the loan applicants to gather information and aide in the application process. Loan Assistants review loan papers to ensure completeness and complete the necessary transactions to close the loan as well as compliance documents. Participates in the sales culture of the institution. Expected to make referrals and cross-sell products/services appropriate to the customers’ needs.


DUTIES OF POSITION:

  • Interview loan applicants to gather personal and financial data necessary for completing applications.
  • Verify and examine all information on loan applications and closing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate the ordering of title certificates, property appraisals, and other required reports through third-party vendors.
  • Assemble and compile all documents required for loan closings, including title abstracts, insurance forms, and tax receipts.
  • Process and manage all transactions required to fund the loan in a timely manner.
  • Accurately record and maintain all information for loan and credit applications, as well as the disbursements of funds.
  • File compliance documents when required.
  • Answer questions and advise customers regarding loans and transactions.
  • Contact customers by mail, telephone, or in person concerning acceptance or rejection of applications.
  • Identify customers’ needs and propose the appropriate products and/or services.
  • Close the sale of products/services or refer customers to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs.


EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are essential, with the ability to navigate internal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented with a keen focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload and multitask effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary for clear client and team interaction.
