Job description

Withum’s Tax Services Group is composed of a talented team of tax specialists who ensure tax reporting obligations are met accurately and timely, while minimizing or deferring tax payments. The group’s deep knowledge of international, U.S. federal, state, and local regulations, combined with our affiliation with HLB International, enables us to develop economical tax strategies for clients worldwide. The Tax Manager role, based in Los Angeles, CA, will work with an integrated team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders to lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise and mentor staff, and build and maintain strong client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by staff and seniors for accuracy.
  • Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities for clients.
  • Handle and resolve tax controversies.
  • Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and diverse industries.
  • Manage multiple engagements concurrently across various teams to meet client deadlines efficiently.
  • Conduct constructive performance discussions with team members and provide guidance.
  • Serve as a professional development instructor or discussion leader.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation is required.
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm, including leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
  • Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast‑paced, results‑based team environment.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, project‑management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
