To thrive as an Excel Instructor, you need expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, a solid understanding of data analysis, and prior experience in teaching or training. Familiarity with tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and optionally a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is advantageous. Outstanding communication, patience, and adaptability help instructors connect with students of varying skill levels and learning styles. These competencies ensure effective knowledge transfer, student engagement, and positive learning outcomes in both classroom and corporate training environments.
As an Excel Instructor, your daily tasks often include preparing lesson plans, delivering hands-on training sessions, creating instructional materials, and assessing participants’ progress. You may work with individuals or groups in diverse settings such as classrooms, corporate offices, or remote online environments. In addition to teaching, you’ll often provide troubleshooting support, answer student questions, and stay current on the latest Excel features and best practices. Collaboration with program coordinators or HR staff is common, especially in organizational training programs. This dynamic role offers a balance of independent work and teamwork while focusing on helping others build valuable, job-ready spreadsheet skills.
An Excel Instructor is responsible for teaching individuals or groups how to use Microsoft Excel efficiently. They design lesson plans, create instructional materials, and conduct training sessions covering basic to advanced Excel functions. Their role includes demonstrating key features such as formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, and automation with macros. Sillers Institute is looking to immediately hire a temporary qualified Microsoft Excel Instructor to teach a small group of students three mornings per week (In-person) for four weeks 8am- 12pm. The days of the week are flexible (small class 2-3 students). This is a non-contract at-will position. The compensation is $35- $40 per hour with weekly pay.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in a related field or certifications and 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office 365.
Experience with Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro, DocuSign, and Google apps is highly desired.
Experience in human resources, contracts, and office logistics is also highly desired.
Candidate should type at least 45-55 WPM
