Job SummaryThis position is responsible for interpreting and applying tax law to ensure HCSC and its subsidiaries are in compliance with federal, state, and local income tax laws, HIPAA, False Claims Act, and the corporate governance and accounting principles of Sarbanes-Oxley; to prepare and timely file all necessary federal, state, and local income tax returns. Implement all necessary tax and fixed asset processes related to merger, acquisition, or start up activities; accurately calculate and report income tax expense, liabilities, and deferred tax assets and/or liabilities for HCSC and subsidiaries; accurately maintain and report HCSC's fixed asset capital base including performance of perpetual physical inventories, tax engineering and cost segregation studies were appropriate; and represent HCSC and subsidiaries within the BCBS system.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and file necessary federal, state, and local income tax returns in a timely manner.

2. Represent HCSC and subsidiaries before the IRS and other state regulatory agencies.

3. Develop and implement tax saving strategies for HCSC and subsidiaries

4. Accurately calculate and report income tax expense, liabilities, and deferred tax assets and/or liabilities for HCSC and subsidiaries.

5. Integrate, develop, and implement all necessary tax and fixed asset processes related to merger, acquisition, or start-up activities.

6. Accurately maintain and report HCSC's fixed asset capital base including performance of perpetual physical inventories, tax engineering and cost segregation studies were appropriate.

7. Represent HCSC and subsidiaries within the BCBS system and other organizations.

8. Develop, train, and mentor staff.

10. Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.

11. Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.

12. Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor Degree in Accounting
* 10 years of tax experience with 5 years proven supervisory experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax law in addition to an understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
* Leadership ability with sound decision-making talent.
* Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Advanced analytical, organizational, and project management abilities.
* Computer skills to include working knowledge of the Corp Tax and PeopleSoft platforms.

*Overseeing the annual budget and allocating resources for various projects and operational needs.

*Translating needs and initiatives into compelling business cases.

*Conducting cost-benefit analyses to justify investments and ensure ROI.

Preferred Requirements

-CPA designation or Master Degree in Tax
