Instead is reinventing tax technology. We are the first company in decades to receive IRS approval to e-file for Individuals, C Corps, S Corps, Partnerships, and Estates & Trusts. Our platform empowers tax professionals with AI-driven workflows, automated compliance, and seamless integrations.
About the Role
We are looking for a Tax Engineer - a unique hybrid of tax expertise and technical implementation. Think of it as the tax equivalent of a legal engineer at Harvey or Legora. You will work directly with accounting firms to help them implement Instead, design tax workflows, integrate their systems, and ensure they get maximum value from our platform.
What You Will Do

  • Become a trusted advisor to firm leadership on tax technology strategy
What We Are Looking For
  • CPA or equivalent tax credential preferred
  • 3-7 years of experience in public accounting, tax technology, or tax consulting
  • Comfort with technology - you do not need to code, but you should be fluent in SaaS tools and workflows
  • Exceptional communication and client relationship skills
  • Willingness to travel to client sites
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - this is a new role and you will help define it
