Job description

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a CMM Lead who will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of all Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection operations. This includes daily workload coordination, technical oversight of CMM programming and maintenance, and mentoring of CMM operators and inspectors. The role requires strong knowledge of Zeiss Calypso software, GD&T principles, and advanced metrology techniques to maintain precision and throughput in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.This position serves as the technical focal point between Quality, Engineering, and Production, ensuring measurement integrity, compliance with customer specifications, and continuous improvement of inspection processes.
This position is onsite at our Tualatin headquarters and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
Requirements
Expectations:
  • Lead daily CMM inspection operations, ensuring all measurement activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Assign and manage CMM workloads using the Schedule Task Manager App; balance tasks according to technician skill level and machine availability.
  • Oversee proof-outs and Machine Buy-Off (MBO) programs to verify dimensional compliance prior to release.
  • Maintain CMM Utilization =50%, Earned Hour metrics and minimum of two CMMs running Auto-Run daily. Subject to change with demand.
  • Verify daily probe qualifications, stylus setup, and system calibration logs.
  • Ensure adherence to 750 CMM Setup Log and 750 Troubleshooting Procedures.
  • Supervise and train operators in Calypso programming, report generation, and BKM documentation updates.
  • Perform and document weekly layered audits of CMM activities, data integrity, and 5S compliance.
  • Interface with Zeiss technical support as the single point of contact (SPOC); track service requests, corrective actions, and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to identify process improvements and reduce variation in inspection methods.
  • Maintain and update Best Known Methods (BKMs) for CMM operations, including calibration routines, troubleshooting, and program structure standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, corrective action (CAPA), and RAIL investigations as needed.
  • Ensure inspection results comply with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer quality standards.
  • Provide monthly performance feedback and development plans for assigned technicians.

Education and Experience:
  • Proficiency in Zeiss Calypso, including program creation, alignment, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and mechanical drawing interpretation.
  • Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with Pi-Web, QC-Calc, or similar statistical reporting software.
  • ASQ CQT (Certified Quality Technician) certification preferred.
  • Experience leading or training a technical team is a plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Hazards:
