Job Overview:

The EDPR North America GIS Team (NA GIS Team) primarily supports the EDP Renewables (EDPR) business in North America by creating automated and standardized processes to generate project web maps, exhibits, documentation, and deliverables for all phases of EDPR projects. The NA GIS Team is responsible for providing guidance to EDPR IT and ESRI to insure the GIS infrastructure (Cloud-hosted Portal) meets the needs of the NA and European (EU) ArcGIS Enterprise platforms; providing technical support for ArcGIS Pro installations and troubleshooting; designing and implementing GIS data management standards and workflows; providing GIS support and training to users; and assisting with GIS software integration (including ESRI, AutoCAD, Global Mapper, and various other spatial systems software solutions.)

The GIS Analyst will provide highly visible, front-office, data and cartographic support for EDPR wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen projects.  The GIS Analyst will communicate and work closely with other GIS Team members and will collect, compile, analyze, standardize, and apply metadata to all authoritative datasets for EDPR.  The GIS Analyst will also produce high-quality key exhibits, layouts, templates, web maps, and apply standard symbology in conjunction with Cartographic Governance practices and guidelines set forth by EDPR NA GIS for all EDPR Projects.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum 1 years of experience working with ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college in science or math - related degree, or at least three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro).
  • Solid understanding of technologies and how to produce, export, integrate ArcGIS data from various data types, including web mapping services.
  • Experience in ArcGIS software and hardware installation/configuration.
  • Technical expertise obtaining, manipulating, and organizing data as well as defining, planning, and implementing analysis and processes;
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred).
  • Experience in process automation utilizing Python. Model Builder, and other Geoprocessing techniques.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, Web Applications, Widgets and Tools
  • Knowledge of ESRI Production Mapping suite of tools, including Data Review, Workflow Manager, Task Assistant Manager.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office 365, Visio, and Teams.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated data management experience, with special emphasis on data collection, compilation, metadata, and data governance. Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated technical GIS cartographic experience; with special emphasis in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise web-based map creation.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software.      Knowledge of database systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrate expertise in cartographic design and principle; apply knowledge to exhibit layouts, templates, and web-based maps.
  • Exhibit proficiency in coordinate reference systems and transformations; Convert geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and proficiency in process improvement and problem-solving.

Primary Goals:

GIS Analyst will work closely with NA GIS Team to ready GIS datasets and maps into centralized ArcGIS Enterprise environment for the following initiatives:

  • ArcGIS Enterprise Dashboards and Web Maps: An initiative to standardize and maintain online project maps that are linked to EDPR's CRM tool and used for priority projects and dynamic status updates (accessible by all EDPR personnel).
  • GIS Data Cleanup:  Work closely with EDPR NA IT to develop a GIS data management solution using the cloud;  Work with business units to determine critical data used in existing projects; work with Back-office staff to automate data collection and redundancy removals; identify best dataset for use in GIS Data Atlas.
  • Parcel Data Consolidation Create automations in ArcGIS Pro that will generate various exhibits for landowner agreements, crossing agreements, permitting, etc.
  • GIS Data Atlas: The generation and maintenance of a nationwide GIS dataset consisting of public and proprietary data for use across the company.  Intended to include existing infrastructure, survey data, and land features intended to be "one-stop" for use by development, engineering, construction, legal and environmental teams, but can be used for any other teams.  Work with back-office staff to remove duplicate datasets and populate metadata according to GIS Data Governance Plan.
  • GIS Data Governance:  Work with GIS Manager to create GIS Data Governance plan for organization for in-house and ArcGIS Enterprise.       Identify global, regional, and local schemas, create standards, and formats (including metadata) .  Will consist of extensive documentation and user training and planned communication for knowledge transfer to general EDPR Population.
  • ArcGIS Pro User Training: Responsible for coordinating and hosting all GIS User onboarding and monthly technical trainings.  Identify presenters capture recorded presentations, design EDPR Training plans via ESRI Advantage program.  Will also coordinate with corporate training team.
  • Corporate GIS : Responsible for compiling and organizing NA datasets to comply with Corporate GIS database model, as required.
