Job description

Description:
To assist and support the classroom teacher and to provide effective direct instruction to students in a positive teaching-learning environment and in a variety of instructional settings
Job Summary:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 
  1. Cooperatively perform tasks under the supervision of assigned certified professional employees in a variety of instructional settings.
  2. Provide assistance to teachers and related service personnel in preparing and implementing instructional curriculum, and daily classroom routines.
  3. Work with individual students and with groups as directed.
  4. Anticipate the needs of the teacher(s) and students to maximize instructional time on task.
  5. Assist in testing routines including data collection and criterion-referenced assessments.
  6. Operate, store, and use educational media, computers and equipment as directed.
  7. Engage in activities, which promote positive communication and understanding school and community.
  8. Participate in in-service training workshops as required by the District, principal or designee (i.e. academic instruction, crisis management, compliance training,etc.).
  9. Appropriately manage students physically, verbally, and non-verbally who may be out of control, working collaboratively with the instructional team. 
  10. Keep data and compile records as assigned.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

 
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 48 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR meets NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals
  • Bilingual (preferred)
Experience:
Some experience working with children.
