Job description

American GFM Corporation, based in Chesapeake, Virginia, is a leading manufacturer of high-precision tooling and machinery for the metalworking and composites industries. As an Electrical/Electronic Service Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, installing, and servicing these complex machines, ensuring they operate at peak performance for our clients. Responsibilities
  • Assemble machine control cabinets, consoles, and terminal boxes, including component layout, drilling, tapping, labeling, wiring, and making cut-outs and hole penetrations.
  • Prepare machine and control cables, including crimping, soldering, stripping, labeling, and end terminations.
  • Fabricate wireways, mount and wire machine components, pull in cables, and complete terminations as required.
  • Power up, debug, and verify machine functionality according to design specifications.
  • Install and start up machines at customer facilities, integrate with automation systems, and provide training to operators and maintenance technicians on proper operation, setup, and repair.
  • Deliver follow-up service to ensure machinery continues to operate according to design and customer requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience using basic electrical hand tools and power tools, such as cutters, strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, drills, grinders, and saws.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including servo drives and programmable controllers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Background in electronic engineering or prior electronic service experience in the machine tool industry preferred.
