The Environmental Specialist helps protect the environment and our people by supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations. You will work across various departments to solve complex environmental challenges, support reliable production of transportation fules, and help ensure we operate responsibly for the communities we serve.

What You'll Do (When Positions Open):

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and project teams to coordinate and conduct field assessments, ensuring activities follow Phillips 66 health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and meet local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance tools, procedures, and controls (such as plans, job aids, spreadsheets, and data systems) to support consistent, reliable performance across air, water, waste, media and natural resources programs.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data in coordination with contractors and laboratories; prepare calculations, metrics, and trend analyses to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and review environmental permits, reports, plans, and correspondence for submission to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
  • Monitor new and changing environmental regulations and refinery projects, assess potential impacts, and support the planning and implementation of programmatic changes, capital projects, and permitting strategies.
  • Participate in compliance reviews, internal and third-party audits, and agency inspections; document findings, recommend and track corrective actions, and help ensure issues do not recur.
  • Provide guidance and training to refinery employees on environmental and HSE requirements; support internal communications and respond to complex questions on policies, procedures, and compliance expectations.
  • Support environmental incident investigations, emergency response, and 24-hour on-call rotations by helping evaluate situations, advise on regulatory requirements, and escalate issues when needed.

What You'll Bring: 

  • Legally authorized to work in job posting country
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 or more years of experience in an environmental or similar role
  • Intermediate of greater proficiency working in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering, Science, or Environmental discipline
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • 3 or more years of direct experience in an environmental field
  • Experience maintaining site compliance with environmental regulations
  • Effective regulatory negotiation experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and organization skills, including coordinating the work of others
  • Ability to interface effectively with others to problem solve and work in a self-directed team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and State environmental regulations
  • Experience developing and using compliance software, data tools, and reporting systems to support environmental programs

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $108,900 - $171,600.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role's requirements. Offers are made to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. Our compensation programs are designed to reward performance and support career growth.

Depending on the location of a live requisition, this position could be eligible for the Phillips 66 geographic differential pay program.
