Job description

Department
Office of Human Resources - Talent Acquisition
Responsibilities
About This Role
Florida State University - recognized as a Forbes Best-In-State Employer - is a place where meaningful work and organizational impact intersect every day. The Talent Engagement Specialist strengthens FSU's ability to compete for top talent by enhancing outreach, guiding hiring leaders with consultative support, and improving how candidates experience FSU at every stage of the recruitment journey. This role meets immediate workforce needs while steadily building the pipelines that keep the university positioned for long-term success.
This position is dedicated to advancing strategic recruitment partnerships and initiatives across the university, with a specialized focus on our Facilities teams. Through talent intelligence, sourcing expertise, and relationship-driven outreach, the Talent Engagement Specialist helps ensure FSU is positioned to meet highly technical, operational, and mission-critical staffing needs across a large and evolving campus environment.
Why This Role Matters
Talent Acquisition at FSU supports an evolving proactive, insight-driven model that aligns recruitment with the university's long-range strategic priorities. This role is central to that progression, strengthening our ability to anticipate workforce needs, activate talent pipelines early, and support hiring leaders with guided strategies that keep FSU competitive in a dynamic talent landscape.
In this position, you will:
  • Strengthen FSU's competitive positioning by identifying and engaging with passive candidates in hard-to-fill fields.
  • Build sustainable pipelines for operational, technical, and leadership roles - especially within Facilities, one of our university's most complex and high-impact operational units.
  • Bring market intelligence and recruitment strategy together to ensure FSU meets workforce demands in an environment defined by growth, innovation, and rising service expectations.
  • Elevate FSU's evolving employer brand, voice, and talent outreach through contemporary sourcing methods, digital platforms, and human-centered engagement.
Your work will directly support the people who maintain, operate, and enhance the physical environments where students learn, researchers innovate, and campus life thrives.
What You'll Do
  • Strategic Sourcing & Talent Research
    • Conduct advanced talent mapping, Boolean search, and market intelligence research to identify high-impact candidate pools.
    • Source passive talent aligned with specialized, technical, and leadership roles across FSU, with a priority focus on Facilities staffing needs.
    • Develop multi-channel sourcing strategies using natural-language search, X-ray techniques, and AI-enabled platforms.
    • Use sourcing automations and browser-based tools to scale outreach and improve speed to engagement.
  • Candidate Engagement & Pipeline Development
    • Build and maintain segmented talent pipelines for key workforce categories, including operations, trades, technical specialists, and Facilities leadership.
    • Develop personalized, data-informed outreach sequences using CRM tools.
    • Monitor engagement data and refine messaging strategies for improved response rates.
    • Represent FSU's employment brand in all candidate interactions, ensuring high-quality touchpoints that reflect university values.
  • Collaboration & Strategy Alignment
    • Work closely with Facilities leadership, HR Representatives, and hiring managers to understand workforce trends and future needs.
    • Align sourcing strategies with FSU's Talent Acquisition framework and the university's broader strategic objectives.
    • Serve as a strategic recruitment partner by providing market insights, talent availability data, and recommendations for competitive positioning.
  • Technology-Enabled Talent Engagement
    • Leverage CRM, ATS, and digital recruitment platforms (including LinkedIn, Indeed, and social channels) to execute sourcing campaigns.
    • Tag, organize, and segment candidates for recurring and future opportunities.
    • Support digital talent engagement efforts such as recruitment-focused newsletters, campaigns, and events.
    • Track engagement analytics to guide continuous improvement.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
    • Track outreach volume, engagement, and conversion metrics.
    • Provide regular reports to Talent Acquisition leadership and Facilities partners.
    • Continuously refine strategies based on data, hiring trends, and stakeholder feedback.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field and two years of experience in strategic sourcing, senior level recruiting, or talent acquisition; or a high school diploma or equivalent and the same experience equal to six years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to source, engage, and cultivate relationships with passive candidates across niche, technical, and leadership talent markets.
  • Familiarity with ATS and CRM platforms.
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as Avature, Beamery, or Yello.
  • Knowledge of recruitment compliance requirements.
  • Certifications such as AIRS, LinkedIn Certified Recruiter, or SHRM-CP.
  • Advanced sourcing methodologies
  • Talent mapping and market research
  • CRM/ATS proficiency
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Analytical problem-solving
  • Project management and prioritization
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation
