How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Operations Plant Manager you will be responsible for overseeing our Monroe City, Missouri facility with focus on manufacturing operations. This Senior Leadership position involves ensuring the efficient production of high-quality products, managing production schedules, optimizing processes, and leading the operations team. You will work closely with other departments to align manufacturing goals with the company's strategic objectives.

1. Strategic Planning and Production Management

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that support company objectives.
  • Lead and manage the operations team to achieve production goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to set long-term manufacturing goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and timely production of products.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and company targets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee inventory management to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, controlling costs while optimizing resources.
  • Analyze financial data related to manufacturing operations and make informed decisions.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality.

2. Team Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, train, and develop staff.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and other key staff.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.

Education & Certifications

  • Proven experience leading manufacturing operations, including accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and cost across more than one facility.
  • Demonstrated success driving operational turnarounds, capacity expansion, or major productivity improvements in a discrete or process manufacturing environment.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership to translate strategic objectives into executable manufacturing plans and measurable results.
  • Strong background managing capital projects, automation initiatives, and equipment upgrades from business case through implementation.
  • Track record of leading organizations through change management, including restructuring, cultural transformation, or rapid growth.

  • Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence systems, including KPIdriven management and root cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations, quality systems, and compliance requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, production planning, inventory control, and supply chain integration.
  • Financial acumen related to manufacturing P\&L, budgeting, cost control, and productivity metrics.
  • Awareness of emerging manufacturing technologies, automation, and datadriven operations that improve safety, quality, and throughput.
