Summary/Objective

South Beach Group Hotels is the largest chain of boutique hotels in Miami Beach. We are in search for a Bartender to provide timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests. The ideal candidate is passionate about the hospitality business.

Essential Functions

  • Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room following standard recipes.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
  • Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Company's standards at all times.
  • Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served and provide change to the guest.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with restaurant standards.
  • Cleaning and stocking your bar after service has been completed to fit the needs of the next day bartender coming in after you.
  • Place current bar tabs in front of Guests at all times.
  • Anticipate your guest's needs. Follow the half-full rule when offering another drink. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledge the guest so they know you will be right with them.
  • Treating each customer as a friend and being personable with every client who walks in the door within 30 seconds.
  • Responsible service of alcohol. Should a guest reach the state you do not feel they should drive, we will supply a taxi. Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.
  • Perform any other duties assign by his/her manager.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a Bartender
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
  • Knowledge of a second language (Spanish) will be considered a plus
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
  • Relevant training certificate
  • Must be able to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or better.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work environment

This position operates in a restaurant setting. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days vary based on business needs. This includes weekends, holidays, evenings and/or overnight shifts.

Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of (2) years of bar/restaurant experience.
  • A minimum of (1) year of experience in a hotel environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to walk and stand during entire shift.
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Frequent washing of hands.
