Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineering Summer Hire will apply their educational experience in a real world setting within Taco's product development team. They will assist the mechanical engineering department to design and develop new products. The Mechanical Engineering Summer Hire will focus on improving products in commercial pump by reducing component count and facilitating identification and resolution of assembly and operational complaints as identified by management. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience with advanced technology products and rapid design practice.
Measures of success:
  • Successfully document and test new products
  • Create validation protocols from requirements
  • Complete analysis of a special project

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design/documentation of product assemblies
  • Create test plans and assisting in testing of products
  • Opportunity to audit processes and components on the production assembly line and oversee testing in the lab
  • Perform in-depth analysis of special project, as necessary

Qualifications
Required:
  • Junior or Senior enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a Graduate student enrolled in a Master's Degree program in Mechanical Engineering
  • Skills with fluid systems desirable
  • Adaptable to changes in priority
  • Ability to come up with new ideas for product improvement based on observation and analysis
  • A team player with enthusiasm, positive outlook and professional demeanor who takes initiative and direction
  • Solid organizational skills, strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships
  • Excellent communication skills
  • No travel required

Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant and testing lab where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position reports into the site every day.
This position has no direct reports.
