Job description

About the Company

VortexWorks is an authorized retailer for a telecom provider(s), helping households connect with fiber internet, wireless, and entertainment services. We're expanding our door-to-door sales team across New York and are hiring experienced field sales representatives.

About the Role

This role is built for reps who already know door-to-door sales and want a structure that rewards it. You'll be assigned an exclusive ZIP code territory that's yours alone — no other rep can work it — along with pre-qualified leads, so your time goes into closing rather than cold prospecting. Commissions are uncapped and paid weekly, and you'll be selling a service nearly every household already budgets for, with sign-ups completed on the spot.

Responsibilities

  • Knock 60–100 doors per shift and engage homeowners in consultative conversations about internet, wireless, and TV services.
  • Present pricing, promotions, terms, and contract details accurately and in full compliance with carrier Sales Integrity Requirements.
  • Verify customer identity and complete sign-ups on the spot via company tablet, including serviceability checks and order entry.
  • Meet minimum activity and sales standards: consistent door counts, tracked in our CRM, and a monthly sales quota after your ramp period.
  • Maintain accurate daily activity logs and lead dispositions.
  • Represent the brand professionally in appearance and conduct at all times; residential customers only with no commercial solicitation.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of door-to-door, canvassing, or outside sales experience (telecom, solar, pest control, alarm/security, or energy strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated track record of hitting quota in a commission-based environment.
  • 18+ and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and current proof of auto insurance.
  • Availability afternoons/evenings (roughly 12pm–8pm) and a minimum of two Saturdays per month.
  • Minimum 20 hours/week commitment (1099 independent contractor).
  • Physically able to walk 4–6 hours per shift and work outdoors year-round in varying weather.
  • Ability to close a minimum of 6 sales in your first 30 days post-training (performance standard for continued territory assignment).
  • Strong verbal communication and professional appearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling internet, wireless, or TV — carrier store, kiosk, or big-box (Costco/Sam's Club booth) backgrounds are a great fit.
  • Familiarity with CRM or field-sales apps (SARA+, Salesforce).
  • Bilingual — Spanish strongly preferred in many territories.

Compensation & Perks

  • $100–$400 commission per sale, uncapped and paid weekly.
  • Realistic first-year earnings: $45K–$75K; top performers exceed $100K.
  • 1099 independent contractor position (20 hrs/week minimum).
  • Insurance covered by us.
  • 50% off your own phone/internet bill with the provider.
  • Tablet, sales materials, flyers, and branded apparel provided.

Training

Paid onboarding covering product knowledge, compliance, and sales process, with ongoing field coaching. Experienced reps ramp quickly, and there is a defined promotion path to Team Lead and Management.

Benefits

  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid time off
  • Paid training
  • Professional development assistance
  • Travel reimbursement
