Job Description

The Business Intelligence Report Developer is responsible for design, development of dashboards, reporting sourced from the Agency Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse and OLAP Cubes in an agile environment. This position will collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Data Stewarts and IT Development teams to design, develop and support Business Intelligence Applications (reports, dashboards, self-service apps) for internal and external customers. This position will gather requirements, perform analysis and translate business reporting requirements to BI Report technical specifications. The Business Intelligence Developer will design, build and deploy business intelligence reports and dashboards using a variety of front end visualization tools (Tableau, SSRS, Excel). The successful candidate must be able to play multiple roles including architect, report developer, metadata modeler and end user trainer/mentor.

Qualifications

Develop automated reports and dashboards using Tableau, SSRS, Excel, PowerPivot and other reporting tools

Gather and understand business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications

Clearly convey the key insights or "story" the data reveals in a visual format that is grouped, summarized, or formatted to be easily understood and actionable

Assists in the design and development of dashboards, reports, and other BI metrics

Gathers and prepares data from multiple sources to support information analytics

Define or assist with best practices during implementation and integration of Tableau Platform

Hands on design, development and support of interactive Tableau based dashboards and workbooks to provide internal and external business units with new insights and tools to make better business decisions.

Design reports and visualizations using Microsoft Business Intelligence solutions utilizing MS SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, Power Pivot, Power View, and integration with Excel and SharePoint.

Develop, optimize and maintain complex data and reporting solutions using SSRS to deliver dynamic, interactive, drilldown web-based reports.

Utilize best practice principles in designing and conceptualizing dashboards and reporting from business requirements.

Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with minimal supervision.

Provide input to project planning, status and review meetings.

Perform unit and integration testing and participate in reporting validation and QA efforts as they pertain to reporting and data analytics


QUALIFICATIONS:


BS Degree CS or MIS or equivalent experience in related roles

Minimum 5 years' experience in IT and business intelligence

2+ years' experience with Tableau Administration, Desktop Development, proficient in Tableau Dashboard Development, Tableau Data source management (creating publishing, managing)

2+ years' experience creating advanced reports using Microsoft SSRS

Considerable business intelligence development experience /background

Knowledge of SQL with the ability to write complex SQL queries

Understanding of Business Intelligence solutions: operational and analytical, strong knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional database architectures

Strong Tableau application development, including visualization, parameters and report optimization

Comfortable with advanced Tableau topics such as complex calculations, table calculations, parameters, data blending and extract optimization
