Job description

Summary

Metrics LLC is bidding on a Financial and Acquisition Support (FAS) Services task order with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Executive Programs Management Unit (EPMU). This is a prepped recruiting effortโ€”in the event of contract award, we will immediately need to staff this position.

The BI / Tableau Dashboard Developer serves as Key Personnel responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-level acquisition and budget dashboards that track the full contract lifecycle, spend plans, obligations, and human resources data. This role is critical to EPMU's financial transparency, compliance reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the acquisition portfolio.

Job & Team Function

  • Dashboard Design & Development: Design, develop, and implement interactive Tableau dashboards covering the full contracts and acquisitions lifecycle (from initiation through closeout), budget management (spend plans, commitments, obligations, expenditures, variances, and forecasts), and human resources data (onboarding, offboarding, and personnel actions). Ensure dashboards are visually clear, accessible, and user-friendly with drill-down and filtering capabilities.
  • Data Integration & Pipeline Management: Identify and connect relevant data sources โ€” including contract management systems, government financial platforms (FFMS, FileOnQ/WebView), and spreadsheets โ€” to Tableau. Build and maintain automated data pipelines that refresh dashboard data daily. Cleanse, transform, and validate data accuracy and completeness across acquisitions, budget, and HR datasets.
  • Testing, Deployment & Access Control: Test dashboards thoroughly before deployment, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders. Deploy finalized dashboards to the Tableau Server or Tableau Online environment. Configure user access permissions and security controls to protect sensitive financial and acquisition data.
  • Daily Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: Monitor daily data refresh jobs and troubleshoot any failures. Respond promptly to user questions and resolve issues. Continuously gather stakeholder feedback and implement dashboard enhancements aligned with Tableau best practices.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document how dashboards work, where data comes from, how data pipelines are structured, and how to maintain them. Support requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders to refine reporting metrics and KPIs.
  • Acquisition & Financial Reporting Support: Contribute to broader acquisition and budget analytics, including dashboards that track procurement timelines, cost variances, and program performance metrics.

You will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the EPMU Contracting and Acquisitions Section (CAS), the Office of Financial Management (OFM), and program stakeholders. You are a Key Personnel position and are expected to maintain availability during core business hours (9:00 AMโ€“3:00 PM ET, Mondayโ€“Friday) and ensure continuity of daily dashboard operations.

Experience & Education Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics) or equivalent professional experience from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 2โ€“5 years of hands-on, direct experience designing, developing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards and data visualizations in production environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and experience with databases, data warehouses, and integrating multiple data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, relational databases, APIs).
  • Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to prepare and cleanse data for dashboard use (e.g., Tableau Prep, Alteryx, or similar tools).
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and deliver actionable insights through data visualization.
  • Experience validating dashboard accuracy, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining dashboards for ongoing operational use.
  • Experience documenting dashboard features, data sources, ETL workflows, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred

  • Tableau certification(s): Tableau Desktop Specialist, Tableau Certified Data Analyst, or Tableau Server Administrator.
  • Experience developing acquisition and budget-related dashboards, including financial analysis, procurement tracking, and resource allocation dashboards.
  • Experience with other business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Qlik Sense, Looker).
  • Experience integrating and visualizing data from government financial systems (e.g., FFMS, FileOnQ/WebView) or similar federal accounting platforms.
  • Experience with Tableau Server or Tableau Online deployment, user access management, and security protocol configuration.
  • Experience with data quality validation, reconciliation processes, and audit-readiness reporting.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition lifecycle terminology, contract management systems, or government budget execution processes.
  • Experience with performance optimization, caching strategies, and troubleshooting Tableau Server infrastructure issues.
  • Relevant certifications in data science, business analytics, or database administration.
