Job description

Senior Business Intelligence Developer with strong hands-on experience in Tableau, SQL, and modern analytics delivery. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, publishing, and supporting enterprise-grade Tableau dashboards and reporting solutions across the Tableau ecosystem, including Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, Tableau Server, and Tableau Cloud.
This role requires strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, business understanding, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful dashboards and reports for business users and leadership teams. The candidate should be comfortable working directly with stakeholders, gathering requirements, preparing data for analysis, optimizing dashboard performance, and supporting secure, scalable Tableau environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards, reports, and visual analytics solutions with a strong focus on usability, scalability, performance, and business value.
Work across the Tableau ecosystem, including Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, Tableau Server, and Tableau Cloud, to build, publish, manage, and support analytics solutions.
Create well-structured Tableau workbooks, dashboards, calculated fields, parameters, filters, actions, sets, groups, LOD expressions, and advanced visualizations.
Build and maintain Tableau data sources, extracts, published data sources, and live connections based on business needs and performance requirements.
Use Tableau Prep to clean, combine, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analytics consumption.
Write advanced SQL queries using joins, CTEs, subqueries, window functions, aggregations, and query optimization techniques to support Tableau dashboards and analytical workloads.
Work with relational databases, cloud data warehouses, and enterprise data platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
Develop reusable views, curated datasets, transformation logic, and reporting-ready data models to support consistent dashboard development.
Optimize Tableau dashboard performance by improving queries, extracts, filters, calculations, data models, workbook design, and server publishing practices.
Publish, schedule, refresh, and manage Tableau content in Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud environments.
Support Tableau governance, including folder/project organization, permissions, certified data sources, user access, content promotion, and report lifecycle management.
Implement security best practices, including user-based access, row-level security, data-source permissions, and secure publishing standards.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications, dashboard wireframes, data models, and scalable BI solutions.
Conduct requirement gathering sessions, dashboard walkthroughs, working meetings, and UAT sessions with business users and cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality analytics solutions.
Document dashboard logic, data definitions, calculations, data sources, refresh schedules, assumptions, and user guidance.
Support issue resolution, enhancement requests, dashboard migration, performance troubleshooting, and production support activities.
A highly motivated and adaptable BI professional with strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts in business-friendly language while engaging confidently with stakeholders and leadership teams.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on Tableau development experience using Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, and Tableau Prep.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related technical field. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Strong proficiency in Tableau dashboard development, data visualization best practices, workbook design, interactivity, calculations, parameters, filters, actions, and LOD expressions.
Strong SQL development skills with experience writing complex queries, performing data validation, analyzing large datasets, and supporting reporting use cases.
Strong understanding of BI data modeling concepts, including star schema, fact and dimension tables, joins, relationships, aggregations, and reporting layers.
A proactive, ownership-driven team player who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, collaborate effectively across teams, and continuously evolve with modern data and analytics technologies.
Preferred / Plus Qualifications:
Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift, BigQuery, or other modern data platforms.
Familiarity with cloud ecosystems such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with data transformation tools such as dbt, Alteryx, Informatica, Fivetran, Matillion, or similar platforms.
Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automation, data validation, or analytics support.
Experience supporting Tableau migrations, upgrades, workbook optimization, and Tableau Server/Cloud administration activities.
Familiarity with Agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative dashboard development.
Understanding of data governance, metadata management, certified data sources, and enterprise BI standards.
Tableau certifications such as Tableau Desktop Specialist, Tableau Certified Data Analyst, or Tableau Server/Cloud-related certifications are a plus.
