LaPrairie Group of Companies is a family-owned, diverse group of construction companies that have been in business for over 40 years in Western Canada. We are one of Canada’s largest independently owned mobile-crane companies, experts in oilfield trucking, heavy-hauling and picker truck services, specialists in proppant mining and production, and a major road construction and maintenance contractor.

We are accelerating our digital transformation efforts and seeking and are seeking a motivated, analytical, and customer-focused Application Support Analyst to join our IT team, in downtown Calgary. This role will help improve the way our business systems, data, and processes work together — supporting our commitment to efficiency, modernization, and growth.

Role Overview

In this role, you will ensure our core business applications are reliable and easy to use. Beyond daily troubleshooting, you’ll work to improve system workflows, enhance our data reporting, and help lead the transition toward a more modern application landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day health and user support for all internal business applications.
  • Act as the technical expert for complex issues, leveraging logs and database queries to resolve problems quickly.
  • Identify and fix the root cause of recurring problems to prevent future occurrences.
  • Work with the IT Infrastructure team to keep our main systems efficient and reliable.
  • Ensure support processes are consistent, documented, and easy to replicate.
  • Support business reporting needs using SQL, Excel, or BI tools.
  • Manage the data lifecycle, including cleaning up and moving old data during system upgrades.
  • Handle data validation, corrections, and regular integrity checks to keep information accurate.
  • Maintain clear standards for how data is handled and governed across the company.
  • Act as the bridge between business units and tech teams to ensure software meets actual work goals.
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, and Field teams to understand and improve their workflows.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical requirements for developers.
  • Assist with software testing (UAT), user training, and creating simple how-to guides and SOPs.
  • Lead efforts to automate manual tasks and improve overall system efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 – 6 years of experience in application support or IT support roles.
  • 2 - 4 years of proven experience supporting ERP or operational systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, trouble shooting and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of business process improvement and system optimization.
  • Experience in documenting business and technical requirements, user guides, and training materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and web services (REST/SOAP) to troubleshoot data flow between integrated systems.
  • Self-driven, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to learn and develop knowledge.
