A day in the life...
As a Marketplace supervisor, you will assist the manager in leading the team, assisting with administrative duties, and acting as a resource for all Marketplace employees. In your leadership position within the store, you will offer guidance and direction to the team. You will also support and carry out floor operations as directed by the Market Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
  • MUST BE 21 YEARS OR OLDER
  • Engage customers in the store. Greet them upon entry, offer your assistance, facilitate sales, and provide an enjoyable shopping environment for Marketplace customers.
  • Make cleanliness and safety the highest priority. Ensure all physical spaces, equipment, and tools are organized, maintained, and meet brand standards. Assist the manager in managing product storage and rotation procedures to reduce spoilage and damage.
  • Listen to customer feedback and communicate with the Market Manager (or manager on duty) when you encounter issues or need assistance on the floor. Resolve immediate guest issues promptly. Escalate customer complaints to the Market Manager when necessary.
  • Assist the management team with money management procedures. Handle money with care, providing correct change and organizing receipts. Handle deposits, waste logs, returns, and exchanges.
  • Accurately receive product and submit invoices to the Procurement Specialist to ensure alignment with the product ordered. Ensure that products are properly stocked, labeled with prices, and dated if needed.
  • Lead the clerk team in completing the daily plan as laid out by the Market Manager. Delegate tasks, address roadblocks, and help cover where needed. Ensure each team member takes appropriate breaks. Create daily plans for leads and clerks as needed if the Store Manager isn't on site or previous daily plans are completed.
  • Coach grocery clerks and leads to anticipate guest needs and proactively assist guests.
  • Assist the Market Manager with team member onboarding and training on SOPs, equipment, cash handling, and employee expectations for clerks and leads.
  • Be a role model of our core values. Have fun with the market team - being a leader in demonstrating how to be respectful, professional, collaborative, and playful at work.
  • Assist the Market Manager with team member onboarding and continual training
  • Control inventory and inform procurement managers in case of low inventory levels.
  • Discard all expired items according to company policy and place close-dated products on special promotions.
  • Perform stocking duties such as lifting, rotating products, ordering, blocking, dusting, and facing.
  • Process customer orders while maintaining accuracy.
  • Receive grocery items delivery and confirm the accuracy of both the order and the invoice.
  • Assist with freight deliveries promptly and maintain the cold chain when required.

Requirements
You own this if you have...
  • 1 year of leadership experience
  • Previous grocery store and/or convenience store clerk/stocker/deli experience required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fun and fast paced environment.
  • Experience with cash handling and completing customer service transactions. Ability to focus on attention to guest needs and customer service.
  • Food Handlers State Approved preferred.
