Job description


Role: Systems Infrastructure Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Full-time position
Hybrid schedule: 4 days on site 1 day having the ability to work from home.
JOB SUMMARY: The Manager, Systems Infrastructure leads the operations, reliability, and modernization of enterprise systems across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments. This role is responsible for directory services, server and virtualization platforms, endpoint management, cloud productivity services, backup and disaster recovery, and enterprise systems monitoring. The Manager oversees the Systems Infrastructure team, defines domain roadmaps, drives operational excellence, and partners closely with global IT teams across multiple time zones to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable systems. This role will have regular interactions with senior leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
  • Practice safe work habits and comply with all quality, safety, health and environmental policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Systems Infrastructure team members, providing technical direction and performance management.
  • Oversee directory services and identity lifecycle execution in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Manage cloud-based and on-premises systems platforms including compute, storage, virtualization, collaboration, and identity components.
  • Lead endpoint management architecture, configuration standards, compliance, and deployment practices.
  • Oversee system backup, replication, disaster recovery readiness, and periodic testing.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation including SOPs, diagrams, and system workflows.
  • Accountable for all patching, configuration management, and operational monitoring practices to ensure system health, performance, and availability.
  • Lead system upgrades, cloud integrations, lifecycle replacements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Serve as the advanced escalation point for complex systems-related incidents; coordinate with internal teams and external partners to successfully resolve issues.
  • Manage IT system-related vendors, support contracts, and coordinate with procurement team.
  • Support IT audits, compliance reviews, and control obligations related to systems infrastructure.
  • Partner with other IT teams to leverage onboarding/offboarding workflows and escalated support requirements.
  • Collaborate with Networking and Security teams to ensure consistent architecture and secure configurations.
  • Work closely with IT Services team to recognize recurring systems issues and drive resolutions.
  • Develop forward-looking domain roadmaps covering systems reliability, automation, and modernization.
  • Coordinate with international teams and support resources across multiple time zones; participate in global operations planning and communication.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, cloud systems administration, or infrastructure operations.
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership capacity overseeing system platforms or engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises enterprise environments.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Google
  • Professional Cloud Engineer)
  • Productivity or identity service certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Administrator, Identity & Access Administrator, Okta Certified Professional)
  • IT service management certification (e.g., ITIL Foundation)
  • Security-oriented certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, GIAC administrator-level certifications)

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud and on-premises systems architecture.
  • Expertise in directory services, identity operations, and secure configuration practices.
  • Proficiency with endpoint management models and enterprise collaboration ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of virtualization, server platforms, storage systems, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Familiarity with security principles, identity protections, and secure system administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound technical and operational decisions under incident and outage conditions.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and balance competing operational priorities.
  • Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with automation and scripting concepts to streamline systems operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly supervises Systems Infrastructure team members including Systems Engineers and Systems Administrators.
  • Provides leadership for system-related projects and cross-functional technical initiatives.
