Director - Systems Engineering

About Your Role

You will oversee a team of senior engineers and serve as a strategic business portfolio owner that is responsible for planning and engineering an organization's systems infrastructure, ensuring projects and contracts meet requirements. You will interface with business leaders across multiple business lines to develop strategies and manage budgets for system design, implementation, and maintenance, ultimately aiming for efficient and effective systems.

What you'll do:

  • Direct and mentor a team of systems engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation while you drive accountability and performance management
  • Develop long-range plans, strategies, and performance metrics for the systems engineering function
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and integration of systems, ensuring adherence to project budgets and timelines
  • Provide technical guidance, ensure adherence to best practices, and implement new approaches to system design and development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineering departments and business units, to align system solutions with organizational objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including those related to security, data protection, and industry best practices
  • Establish and enforce operational rigor, including standardized processes, governance, and delivery frameworks of projects

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience, providing efficient and effective enterprise deployment of infrastructure components
  • 5+ years of experience leading large, senior-level engineering teams, including manager and/or technical leads
  • 5+ years of maintaining a business portfolio for service delivery within a typical project methodology (waterfall, agile, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to system performance
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, reports, and presentations for various stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience evaluating and selecting vendors for system components and services
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Proven ability to lead through other leaders and direct reports, building high-performing management layers and scaling organizational effectiveness
  • Experience managing teams in a high-pressure, high-availability environment that adheres to strict uptime, SLA, and client satisfaction requirements
  • Strong track record of translating business objectives into executable engineering strategies and measurable outcomes
  • Prior financial industry experience

How you'll work:

  • Fiserv emphasizes in-person collaboration to help you grow your career while shaping the future of fintech, this role is on-site Monday through Friday
  • This role requires flexibility to work overtime that includes weekends and holidays
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment

Travel:

  • Approximately 5% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected

Salary Range

$127,500.00 - $204,000.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
