L3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Senior Specialist Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City facility. 
The Project Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer will be responsible for the life-cycle support of protected SATCOM data link systems from conceptual development through product phase-out. This includes proposal support, requirements analysis and management, task planning, technical documentation (including generation of Statements of Work and specifications), design oversight participation, design synthesis in a multi-functional engineering environment, build and test support, subcontract control, risk management input, integration and verification test support, system deployment support and in-house technical support during the operational life-cycle of the system.
Essential Functions:

  • Experience working with RF lab test equipment including signal generators, spectrum analyzers and power meters.
  • Experience with modem testing/design.
  • Experience with network analysis tools such as IXIA and Wireshark.
  • Experience designing, building, testing and optimizing complex electrical systems. 
  • Provides extensive systems engineering expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical SATCOM, airborne and ground products.
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of technical projects or portions of projects.
  • Assists in the capture and/or management of customer and derived requirements, decomposition and assignment of requirements to appropriate functional areas of responsibility, insuring traceability from a verification test matrix back to original customer and system level derived requirements.
  • Provides support to lead engineers in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, configuration analysis and processing solutions, and test conformance to specifications. 
    Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant (Systems) experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in product development a plus (preferably in military application environment).
  • Experience with type 1 encryption products and cyber security.
  • Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual).
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Understanding in coordination of project(s) and efforts of technical support personnel.
  • Ability to productively contribute work, ideas and collaboration as part of a team.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
