Position Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the design, deployment, security, and support of enterprise infrastructure across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments. This role provides technical leadership and ownership of critical infrastructure services including identity and access management, cloud platforms, virtualization, compute, storage, backup and recovery, automation, and enterprise systems.

The Senior Systems Engineer leads infrastructure projects, drives operational excellence, and helps reduce platform risk through documentation, cross-training, automation, and disaster recovery readiness. The ideal candidate is a senior technical contributor with strong troubleshooting skills, enterprise infrastructure experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Networking, Client Services, Stadium Event Services, Information Security, Business Systems, and business stakeholders across the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of enterprise infrastructure platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Administer and secure Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, hybrid identity services, and enterprise SaaS platform integrations.
  • Manage and optimize virtualization, server, storage, backup, recovery, and Azure infrastructure platforms to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives involving cloud services, automation, lifecycle management, and platform upgrades.
  • Automate administrative and operational processes using PowerShell and other automation technologies.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise certificate and PKI services, supporting secure communications, authentication, and application integrations.
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and disaster recovery runbooks.
  • Support infrastructure monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and proactive problem management.
  • Collaborate with Information Security to implement security controls, identity governance, vulnerability remediation, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Provide Tier III support and technical leadership during major incidents, root cause analysis, and recovery efforts.
  • Mentor engineers and administrators while promoting knowledge sharing and operational maturity across the Infrastructure team.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations that improve reliability, security, efficiency, and scalability.

Required Skills

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, and identity and access management technologies including SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and privileged access controls.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware, Windows Server, enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience leading infrastructure projects and supporting complex hybrid environments spanning on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, documentation, and operational best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and network troubleshooting, with the ability to effectively diagnose issues across systems and network boundaries.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor team members and serve as a senior technical resource across multiple infrastructure domains.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, infrastructure administration, or cloud technologies.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (Microsoft, Azure, VMware, Security, or ITIL).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to carry a cell phone and respond to critical infrastructure issues during after-hours and event rotations.
  • Weekend and holiday work required during major events and maintenance activities.
  • Occasional travel between business locations as needed.
