SUMMARY: Plans and conducts activities throughout the life cycle of measurement and control systems used for production and production testing; quality control systems; and quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide system design, development, deployment, maintenance and life cycle management and support of multiple automated instrumentation and control systems. These systems include, but not limited to, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and computer equipment as major components.
  • Provide hardware and software systems engineering support for a wide range of existing measurement, control and test systems. Support Quality and Manufacturing personnel in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Select appropriate instrumentation for various processes and oversee its installation, operation and maintenance.
  • Develop standards and methods for hardware and software development, inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Develop calibration methods for instrumentation and control systems. Metrology skills desired.
  • Interface with IT department to provide “Real-time Data” handling, processing and analysis systems.
  • Serve as project manager on assigned projects.
  • Provide documentation, including system flowcharts and specifications, as well as briefing material required to execute the above functions.
  • Able to understand/read and apply PID, electrical, plumbing, pneumatics and other related schematics.
  • Able to apply and implement schematics in troubleshooting and assembling requested schematics including part procurement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management skills are necessary. No supervisory duties for the position
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or approved equivalent degree required.
  • At least 2 years of related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (both internal and external), regulatory agencies or other members of the business community. Ability to convey complex systems issues in formal and informal sessions. Ability to effectively present information to executive management.
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs). Experienced in applying systems theory to analyze, develop and improve complex systems.

WORK CONTEXT:
Work location is indoors, outside, below ground, and on elevated areas. There may be temperature extremes ranging from 10 oF - 120oF. There can be frequent standing, sitting, bending, reaching, walking, climbing, and kneeling. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work with and around cleaners, degreasers, plating chemicals, ammonia, solvents, aviation fuels and other natural or synthetic greases and oils.
