Senior Systems Engineer
6 month contract to hire
Pay: $55hr to $70hr
Hybrid (couple times a month)
Charlottesville VA
Role Overview
This is a senior infrastructure engineering role with operational ownership. The Senior Systems Engineer designs, evaluates, capacity-plans, procures, implements, secures, automates, supports, and continuously improves Microsoft-based infrastructure across its full lifecycle.
Top Must-Haves:
1. Senior-level Microsoft Infrastructure Engineering experience
2. Deep Active Directory expertise, including disaster recovery
3. Windows Server engineering (not just administration)
4. Microsoft 365 / Exchange / Entra ID experience
5. Azure administration experience
6. Advanced PowerShell automation (building solutions from scratch)
7. Infrastructure lifecycle ownership and architecture experience
8. Hardware, storage, and server infrastructure experience
9. SQL Server infrastructure support and troubleshooting (not DBA)
10. Ability to operate independently in a small IT environment
