Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Level 2 or 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.
Position Overview:
The selected Systems Engineer - Level 2 or 3 responsibilities will include the support of the BOA program as an individual contributor on the Systems Engineering team. This role is responsible for developing systems engineering products that directly support the design and development of BOA software development capabilities.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform technical planning, support design reviews, and support the development of a tool to communicate and track action items internally and with our customers.
  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering, requirements, and design artifacts.
  • Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature systems architecture content for large program designs.
  • Conduct pre-review assessments to ensure readiness prior to formal design review.
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer - Level 2 or a Principal Systems Engineer - Level 3.
Basic Qualifications (Systems Engineer - Level 2 or 3):
  • Systems Engineer Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 0-2 years of related work experience.
  • Principal Systems Engineer Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD. and 1 year of related work experience.
  • Experience with DOORS, CAMEO, and/or Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition with system-modelling tools.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge of MBSE and the use of SysML to describe behaviors of a complex DoD system
  • Experience authoring requirements or developing verification strategies.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Exceptional communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical content to audiences of varying backgrounds.
  • Applicants must be able to work on-site in an office environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with OPIR data and software development and analysis of specialized combat systems that are providing advanced algorithms to improve tracking, prediction, and discrimination capabilities for emerging threats worldwide.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) or similar agile workflow environments.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering disciplines and stakeholders across IPTs.
  • Experience working with DOORS or similar requirements management tools.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
