Job description

MS Technology, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our client in Oak Ridge, TN.
Summary
The Systems Engineer supports engineering projects by developing, managing, and validating technical requirements across facility and equipment systems. This role works closely with design, operations, safety, and quality teams to ensure requirements are complete, traceable, and effectively integrated throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage system and equipment requirements, translating operational and stakeholder needs into technical specifications.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and hierarchy using systems integration tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, or Visure.
  • Support interface management between facility systems including electrical, mechanical, controls, and safety systems.
  • Conduct requirements reviews and support design verification activities to ensure compliance with project objectives and quality standards.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including engineering specifications, interface requirements, verification records, and design review materials.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality assurance, and project teams to support design integration, configuration management, and change control processes.
  • Assist with risk identification, requirements-driven cost impacts, and project planning activities.
  • Support development of systems engineering standards, templates, and best practices, including MBSE methodologies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM discipline from an ABET-accredited university with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with MBSE experience.
  • Experience developing technical requirements for hardware-based systems including mechanical, electrical, controls, or instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements traceability, interface management, verification methods, and configuration management principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control system documentation.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience working within regulated or quality-driven industries such as nuclear, aerospace, automotive, medical device, or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar quality programs.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DOORS, Visure, GENESYS, or similar requirements management tool
  • Experience with MBSE, design verification/validation, FAT/SAT, or commissioning activities
  • Knowledge of ASME, NFPA, OSHA, NEC, ISA, or related industry standards.
  • PE license or INCOSE CSEP certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting process equipment, manufacturing systems, or production facility design projects.
