Systems Engineer Contract Jobs in Ontario (NOW HIRING)

We're seeking a Systems Test Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing and validating advanced communications and mission-critical systems used in highly regulated and technically complex environments.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging integration problems and working at the intersection of hardware, software, and systems engineering. You will be responsible for verifying system performance, supporting integration efforts, and ensuring solutions meet technical and operational requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, technical leads, and stakeholders to understand system capabilities, test objectives, and verification requirements.
• Participate in requirements reviews and design discussions to ensure system functionality can be effectively validated.
• Develop verification strategies, test plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria for component, subsystem, and system-level testing.
• Execute and document verification and validation activities, including functional, integration, performance, and end-to-end system testing.
• Configure and maintain test environments, including hardware, software, and supporting test tools.
• Develop and execute automated and manual test solutions to assess functionality, reliability, performance, and diagnostic capabilities.
• Support hardware and software integration activities by validating interfaces, data flow, and overall system operation.
• Track defects, risks, and testing progress while communicating key findings to project teams.
• Prepare detailed test reports and provide recommendations based on verification results.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to testing methodologies, automation, and system quality.

• Experience in Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation (V&V), or Systems Integration.
• Strong understanding of requirements analysis and requirements-based testing.
• Experience creating test plans, test procedures, and verification documentation.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
• Experience supporting complex hardware/software system integration activities.
• Knowledge of automated testing and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

• Experience with communications systems or networked systems.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, maritime, transportation, or other highly regulated industries.
• Understanding of military or industry standards.
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing considerations.
• Experience supporting certification, qualification, or acceptance testing activities.

• Work on sophisticated, mission-critical systems that make a real-world impact.
• Collaborate with experts across software, hardware, and systems engineering disciplines.
• Gain exposure to complex integration and verification challenges.
• Contribute to the delivery of next-generation technologies in a highly innovative environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
